On August 1st, the Extraordinary Yilin 6th Summer Arts Festival premiered at the Chongqing Library. With reforms in the art examination policies, Extraordinary Yilin adapted its curriculum accordingly. This year's festival also shifted its exhibition direction, allowing students to enhance their professional skills in stage practice, better meeting the requirements for art college entrance exams.
Around 3:00 PM, the audience was treated to a preview of the Extraordinary Yilin 6th Summer Arts Festival – a dedicated dialogue performance. Sixteen students from the performance training camp used their voices and acting chops to immerse the audience in a world brought to life through spoken word.
The main performance kicked off with introductions from broadcasting and hosting students. This year’s showcase included the premiere of micro-films from the renowned director training camp, a dubbing showcase from the dubbing training camp, theatrical performances from the acting camp, ethnic dance performances by Extraordinary Yilin’s dance students, piano performances and choral pieces from the music students, and behind-the-scenes coverage from the all-media anchor team.
Music students and teachers collaborated on a performance of classic Jay Chou songs, transporting the audience back to unforgettable memories and cherished melodies.
The micro-film "Accident," created by four directing students in just one week, showcased their talents in writing, casting, location scouting, filming, and editing, all under the guidance of their instructors. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause, a true testament to the directing students' hard work and creativity. Talk about a hands-on experience!
Following the directors' innovative film, the dance students took the stage, whisking the audience away to the vast Mongolian grasslands through the beauty and freedom of ethnic dance. The dancers' professional performances were met with enthusiastic applause and cheers.
The dubbing training camp students delivered an exceptional dubbing show, effortlessly transitioning between the playful innocence of "Peppa Pig" and "Boonie Bears" to the classic animation of "Detective Conan" and "Super Mario," and even tackling the challenging drama of "Princess Agents" and "Dying to Survive." Their versatility and skill brought laughter and applause from the audience.
The highlight of the evening was the theatrical performance by 16 acting training camp students. This year’s camp included not only acting students but also directing students, resulting in a dynamic blend of artistic ideas. The performance consisted of six plays, ranging from period pieces like "The Message" and "The Piano in a Factory" to challenging comedies like "Shine," "The Taste of Mom," "Let’s Go on a Trip," and "When a Woman is Ready to Return Shoes."
Throughout the performances, the audience was completely engaged, experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions alongside the actors. Each performance concluded with thunderous applause.
After the show, the acting students surprised the audience with a creative encore, leaving everyone delighted and wanting more!
The students from the various training camps also received recognition for their outstanding performances during the festival, sharing this special moment with the teachers who guided their growth.
In recent years, a growing number of students have been drawn to the arts, leading to a steady increase in the number of art examination candidates. The competition for art specialties is undoubtedly becoming more intense. The art examination policy introduced in March 2023 further emphasizes that future art exams will focus on both cultural knowledge and professional skills. Only well-rounded individuals with a genuine passion for art, a strong artistic pursuit, and a solid foundation in cultural literacy and moral character will stand out in the art examination process.
