A Lens on Qinshui: Short Video Contest Celebrates the Town's Charm

Wandering through the ancient castles of Qinshui, one can truly appreciate its beauty. Recently, the "I Love Qinshui" Douyin (TikTok) Short Video Contest awards ceremony was held at the Qinshui County Rong Media Center. Award winners and content creators from across the province came together to celebrate this grand event. Wang Yunqian, Executive Vice President of the Taiyuan New Media Association and Executive Vice President of the Shanxi Humanistic Geography Digital Industry Research Institute; Zhang Zhenhua, Deputy Secretary-General of the Digital Cultural Tourism Branch of the Shanxi Association of Experts and Scholars; and Zhang Libin, Executive Director of the Taiyuan New Social Stratum Association and Executive Vice Chairman of the Jinjie Content Creator Alliance, were invited as expert representatives in the field of new media in the province.

The event was guided by the Publicity Department of the Qinshui County Party Committee and organized by the Qinshui County Culture and Tourism Bureau and the Qinshui County Rong Media Center. Since its launch, the contest has garnered enthusiastic responses and active participation from numerous short video creators. Nearly 500 content creators from all over the province submitted their work, publishing over a thousand short videos. The "I Love Qinshui" hashtag on Douyin has accumulated over 25.565 million video views, fully showcasing the beautiful scenery, rich history, and impressive achievements of Qinshui's high-quality development along the hundred-mile Qinhe River ecological economic belt. Following a professional evaluation, first, second, and third prizes, the Starlight Award, and the Excellence Award were selected. The winners included local Qinshui internet enthusiasts and online celebrities from both inside and outside the province. A winning representative, Erduo Guo (online name), shared her creative insights in her speech, expressing her love for Qinshui and hoping that all content creators would continue to use their lenses to capture Qinshui's unique scenery and cultural charm, conveying the city's warmth.

The contest plays an important role in deeply exploring and showcasing the beauty of Qinshui's mountains, the charm of its culture, and the changes of the times. Qinshui County will seize this opportunity to create the "I Love Qinshui" city promotion brand, further explore and promote local cultural tourism resources, and promote the high-quality development of the county's economy. I think this is a smart move – leveraging the power of social media to boost local tourism.

At the event, the Qinshui County Culture and Tourism Bureau promoted Qinshui County's rich cultural tourism activities during the "Two Festivals" in 2025, including intangible cultural heritage performances, bayin competitions, float parades, lantern festivals, as well as immersive performances and food exhibitions launched by scenic spots such as Xiangyu Ancient Castle and Liu's Residences. These represent new tourism formats and experiences. They sincerely invited tourists from the entire province and even the whole country to spend the Chinese New Year in Qinshui and experience the unique charm of celebrating the Spring Festival in the ancient castles of Qinshui.

At the same time, the Taiyuan New Media Association and the Qinshui County Rong Media Center reached a strategic cooperation and held a licensing ceremony. Based on their respective advantages, the two parties will integrate more high-quality new media resources and rely on the "I Love Qinshui" event brand to continuously help Qinshui County's new media communication and showcase the county's high-quality development achievements. On the same day, the "Initiative on New Media Empowering Qinshui's High-Quality Development" was released, and the winning representatives jointly recited the content of the "Praise Qinshui" initiative on stage, calling on more people to discover the beauty of Qinshui, promote the beauty of Qinshui, and praise the beauty of Qinshui.
