A captivating showcase of Shanxi's traditional artistic brilliance, the "Shanxi's Dazzling Glazed Art· Fahua Glass Art Exhibition," kicked off on November 6, 2024, at the Winying Park in Taiyuan City. This vibrant event was a collaborative effort by the Shanxi Fahua Glass Museum, the Taiyuan Fahua Glass Research Association, and the Taiyuan Arts Association, with the Shanxi Guanzhong Culture Development Co., Ltd. taking the lead as the organizer.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Li Shuntong, former Director of the Shanxi Provincial Labor Department, Executive Vice Chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Chinese Culture Promotion Association, and Executive Vice President of the Dazhong Painting and Calligraphy Academy, delivered an enthusiastic speech. He highlighted the significant contribution of Fahua glass art to Chinese culture. Mr. Pei Ximin, a national first-class artist and renowned painter and calligrapher, also shared his unique insights on Fahua glass art. Subsequently, Mr. Li Yupeng, Curator of the Shanxi Fahua Glass Museum, delivered the opening address, extending a warm welcome to all the guests and expressing his hopeful expectations for the future of Shanxi Fahua glass art. Finally, Mr. Ji Xiaofeng, Vice President of the Taiyuan Sanjin Culture Research Association, officially announced the opening of the exhibition.
Wang Luwei, Dean of the School of Drama and Film and Television of Shanxi Normal University, Luo Sheguan, Vice President of the Shanxi Professors Association, and Du Chengyuan, Executive Vice Chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Association of Elderly Painters and Calligraphers and Chairman of the Taiyuan Association of Elderly Painters and Calligraphers, along with other distinguished guests, visited the "Shanxi's Dazzling Glazed Art: Fahua Glass Art Exhibition" and gave the exhibition high praise.
The exhibition showcases a curated selection of representative new Fahua glass works, demonstrating both the exquisite craftsmanship of ancient Shanxi glass techniques and its profound cultural heritage. This event is an exploration of the historical culture of ancient building glass, integrating high-definition photography of Shanxi ancient building glass with the exhibition of Fahua glass intangible cultural heritage creative products. Since the Han Dynasty, glass has been widely used in various important buildings, from royal palaces to ordinary residences. Especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the rise of Fahua glass pushed this ancient art to a new peak.
